GHS Band Parents Meeting Minutes 3/10/2009  
AGENDA ITEM DISCUSSION RECOMMENDATIONS/ACTIONS RESPONSIBLE  
I.  Call to Order/Introductions   The meeting was called to order by Carole Buebe  
    vice President Carole Buebe.  Con-    
    gratulations were offered to Mr. and     
    Mrs. Bredemeier on the birth of their    
    daughter, Emily.    
         
II.  Presentation of the Minutes The February minutes were reviewed. After motion being duly made and  Doris Kowalski  
    seconded, the minutes were approved    
    as distributed.    
         
III.  Treasurer's Report Discussed "Free/Reduced Fees" program No Action taken. Carole Buebe  
  at High School for students (example given:      
  students in sports may have fees waived if Treasurer's report will be filed for audit. Julie Nelson  
  meet certain financial levels).      
         
IV.  Director's Report Mr. Bredemeier thanked all those who assisted   Mr. Bredemeier  
  with the Solo and Ensemble Contest and All      
  District events. Tentative Band Camp schedules are    
  He announced the following events: available on the piano.    
  March 14th-WROVA Jazz Festival      
  March 22nd - Band Theme Concert at GHS      
         
  Ms. Shadensack shared that the Jazz Band   Ms. Shadensack  
  was scheduled to perform at 1:00PM at the       
  WROVA  Jazz Festival.  The Jazz Showcase Assisstance is needed for the Jazz    
  will be March 26th fro 7:00-8:30PM. Showcase.    
    If your student did not attend Solo/    
    Ensemble contest, they have make-up    
    due to Ms. Shadensack.    
         
V.  President's Report A Thank you was offered for all the parents    Carole Buebe  
  who have d assisted with recent Band events.      
         
VI.  Committee Reports         
COMMUNICATIONS Communications Request for Senior pictures for the  Cynthia Kitchen  
    Banquet.  Caroline Pierson will assist    
    in taking pictures of senior students    
    at school.    
  No further communication reports were      
  given.      
         
MARCHING SEASON No reports were given.      
         
WAYS AND MEANS A Ways and Means conmmittee meeting   Carole Buebe.  
  will be held Mach 17th at 7:00PM in room 107      
  at GHS for all interested parents.      
         
  Bottled Water:  discussed selling at Solo/ Will identify as selling opportunity for  Cory & Deb Silber  
  Ensemble contest. next year.     
         
  Fannie Mae Sales Announced that sales are complete. Cheryl Johnson and   
      Donna Slaton  
         
  Jazz Showcase Program Book The draft is complete.   The program  Kim Sevigny, Amy Smith  
    will be a four pages. C & J Oakley  
         
  Patron Sales:  announced that sales this Need to include previous Band Parents Marsha Johnson  
  year have totaled less than $2000. in the mailing lists/patron sales.    
         
  Hy Vee Coupon Booklets Booklets will be distributed on March Brenda Marshall  
    18th; each student will be asked to     
    sell 5 booklets.  Cost of booklet is $5.00.    
    All unsold booklets and MONEY is     
    due on April 17th.    
  Coffee Sale We have not been able to make  Carole Buebe  
    contact with Innkeepers to arrange.    
         
  Community Coupon Book Mr. Bredemeier tallied the business Mr. Bredemeier  
    titles supplied by parents.  Currently Carole Buebe  
    working on logos for the booklet.    
    Possibility to sell in May 2009.    
JAZZ Jazz Showcase: March 26, 2009 Co-chairs needed for event on March 26.  Shaela Duckwiler    
      volunteered.  
    Sign-up sheets circulated for parents    
    to assist with loading/unloading and to     
    work concessions.    
         
  Big Band Dip:  May 15, 2009 Announced that theme will be "All  Ms. Shadensack  
    That Jazz".  Posters, tickets, and sign- Shaela Duckwiler and   
  Ms. Shadensack emphasized the need to  up sheets will be available at the next Cathi Brush  
  make this a community event, an event that band Parents meeting.
