GHS Band Parents Meeting Minutes 5-12-09

I.  Call to Order   The meeting was called to order by  Rhonda Brady

II.  Presentation of the Minutes The April minutes were reviewed.  Two correc- The secretary will change the presiding    Doris Kowalski

    After the motion being made and  Doris Kowalski
    seconded to accept the minutes with   
    the corrections as noted, the minutes  
    were approved as distributed.  
       
III.  Treasurer's Report Please see the monthly report attached. Mr. Bredemeier will investigate the  Mr. Bredemeier

    The Teasurer's report will be filed for Julie Nelson

IV.  Director's Report Mr. B. reviewed upcoming events listed on    Mr. Bredemeier
  the back of the agenda.  Concert season has    
  concluded; Big Band Dip will be soon for the     
  Jazz Band.  The Coupon booklet fund raiser    
  needs a parent to serve as the Chair.  Many     
  thanks to Alanna and Kathi for chairing a     
  wonderful Band Banquet.  Thanks also to     
  Debbie for organizing the DVD production.    
  All Band Parents were thanked and recognized    
  for their dedication and participation.    
       
  Ms. Shadensack reviewed preparations for    Ms. Shadensack
  the Big Band Dip.   It is scheduled to be in     
  the Courtyard this year; students will assist    
  with hanging white lights in the tress; please    
  bring pies and cakes after school.  More lights    
  and extension cords are needed.  Please     
  mark with your name.    
       
V.  President's Report President Rhonda offered a thank you to all   Rhonda Brady
  for the energy channeled into the Band     
  program this year.    
       
VI.  Committee Reports      
COMMUNICATIONS Communications A reminder to all parents - DO NOT HIT        Cyn Kitchen
    REPLY on emails sent from our chair.  
    Send your reply to the appropriate  
    person/committee chair.  
       
  No other Communications Committees offered reports at this meeting.    
       
MARCHING SEASON Uniforms Chairs will be Ann Shumaker and  Ann Shumaker
    Cheryl Johnson.  A sign-up sheet for   
    help with the Memorial Day Parade  
    was distributed.  
       
  Equipment Chairs will be Nancy Reed and Danny Robertson.  
  Flags Will request Ann Seibert to Chair. Carole Buebe
  Chaperones Todd Shumaker will chair.  
  Senior Night Will request Ann Seibert to Chair. Carole Buebe
  U of I Tailgate Brenda Marshall will chair.  
  Band Lock-in Carole Buebe will chair.  
       
WAYS AND MEANS      
  Balloon Days Joan Smith and Carole Buebe will chair.  
  Band Trailer Ron Knoble will chair.  
  Bottled Water Cory and Debbie Silber will chair.  
  Car Wash Will request Chuck Bankes and Steve

  Cheesecake Sales Has not been determined that this fund  
    raiser will continue.  No chairs appointed  
    at this time.  
  Cookie Dough Lynn Armstrong will chair.  
  Fannie Mae Cheryl Johnson will chair.  
  Jass Showcase Program Book C & J Oakley will chair.  
  Gift Wrap Mary Gehring will co-chair.  Co-chair  
    is needed to assist  Mary.  
  Patron Sales Doris Kowalski will chair.  
  Restaurant Benefit Nights CHAIRPERSON NEEDED  
  Spirit Wear CHAIRPERSON NEEDED  
  Seminary Street Not eligible in 2009 or 2010.  
  HyVee Coupon Books Brenda Marshall reported that 200   
    booklets have been turned back in;  
    11 students still have booklets out.  
    Consider selling again next fall to re-  
    coup money invested.  
  Floral Sale Consider during 2009-2010.  
  Coffee Sales Consider during 2009-2010.  
       
Fundraising Committee Doris Kowalski, Cheryl Johnson,  C & J The committee will plan to meet in  Carole Buebe

JAZZ Jazz Showcase    
  Big Band Dip Cathi Brush will chair.  
       
AWARDS Banquet The Band Banquet cost to the Band  Alanna Pelton
    Parent organization was $397.36. Lynn Armstong
    Next year the Banquet will be the 3rd   
    Friday in May at the American Legion.  
       
       
VII.  Election of Officers The following presented as a slate for 2009-10:   Rhonda Brady
  President - Carole Buebe Upon motion being duly made and   
  Secretary - Doris Kowalski seconded, the slate was approved as   
  Treasurer - Julie Nelson presented.    
    Amy Smith will consider the office of   
    Vice President.  
       
VIII.  Announcements The Band mailing will go out the first week of  Mr. B. reminded parents of the Parent/    Mr. Bredemeir
  June.  Music to be memorized will be included Student Orientation that will be on   
  in the mailing as well as many forms, Tuesday, August 4th in the Band Room.  
       
  Tuxedos Cleaning The possibility of using funds from the   
    District Uniform Fund to have all   
    Tuxedos cleaned will be explored.
