November 18, 2008
7:00 p.m.
Band Room
Welcome was extended by President, Rhonda Brady. Apologies were offered for the lack of an agenda.
Director‘s Report:
Announced upcoming jazz auditions-Thurs., Nov. 24 3:00-4:30p.m.; guitar & vocals, Mon.
Nov. 24 3:00-3:45 p.m.
Practice Sheets have had low participation; it counts for 10% of grades; some parents were unaware; copies are available on the website; contact the Directors with questions about the students grade; students may practice before or after school, during advisory.
Post-marching season, the band is now divided into concert bands each with different abilities, requirements which vary accordingly. Concern/reaction to the weather conditions (around 32 degrees) for the Veteran’s Day Parade was addressed. Mr. B is sensitive to honoring the veterans but is being required by administration to have bands participate. Administration is requiring the band’s participation, so concerns, issues should be addresses to Mr. Chiles (Ms. S was responsible for the Veteran’s parade; Mr. B is responsible for the Holiday Parade).
Pep Schedule-band divided “randomly” (no differentiation between abilities in “Gold” & “Silver); substitute policy reviewed.
Fanny May candy sales were down, about 50% below what was budgeted.

Question was raised about the “Band Activity Fund-Annual Copy Machine” line item--it is from the “activity fund”; is paid once a year.
Question was asked about the “Knox County Recorder-Recording Fees” line item--a change was made to a registered agent (one time expense).
Question raised about the “Illinois Charity Bureau Fund-Filing Fee & Audit Waiver Fee”--there is a $150,000 limit but our fund for trip exceed that; may be handled differently due to Bob Rogers (travel company); would cost $3,000-5,000 to audit yearly; there is a “waive” of audit.
